Even if you don’t run, you can still be a part of this great event:
This event can not happen without the help of volunteers. Please consider sharing your time and talent with us. Let’s motivate, cheer, and encourage all our participants!
Volunteer Opportunities before race day
Description: We will have various opportunities for volunteers before race day. This could involve stuffing envelopes, delivering letters to the surrounding community, putting up signage, etc. and will take place in April, May, and June. If you cannot make race day and would like to volunteer this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Pre-Race (race day)
Description: You will be responsible for controlling parking and traffic movement on the Saint Helena property. The goals are to maintain an orderly process of individuals coming to the event, provide for the event’s safety, and protect the Saint Helena campus / property.
Description: You will be stationed in the lower school parking lot to help guide runners, walkers, friends, and families to registration and packet pick-up. As Race Greeters, you will be supplied with maps and information to help answer questions, provide directions, and cheerfully get people where they need to go.
Race Day Registration & Packet Pick-up:
Description: Are you a cool, calm, detail-oriented person who works well under pressure? You can help us with registration! You will distribute runners’ chips, handout T-shirts, answer questions, accept registration forms and fees, and keep area clean.
First Aid Station:
Description: Our first aid station will be staffed by qualified personnel to respond to emergencies.
Race Day Photographers:
Description: You are our official paparazzi! Wear your comfortable shoes and bring your camera. You’ll be assigned an area of coverage to capture various special moments throughout the day!
Race Day Raffle:
Description: Show me the money!!! You will be selling raffle tickets.
Unmarked Course Turns (Marshals):
Description: You will spread out over the entire course and monitor turns & intersections. Marshalls help runners stay on course, keep cars off the course, and maintain course safety during the event.
Course Mile Marker/ Timers
Description: You will be stationed at a mile mark on the course, and will call out the running time of the participants as they run by. On Race day you will receive a course map identifying your assigned mile mark.
Description: You will fill and hand out cups of water to runners as they run by. When handing the drinks to the runners, hold the cups by the rim so runners can grab the base. After runners go by, you will clean up the station by picking up cups and filling trash bags. Race staff will drop off and pick up supplies before and after the Race. Race staff will assist you with station set-up.
Description: Be the first to see the many runners as they come across the finish line. Be a part of the finish celebration. The chip timing system we are using this year requires an electronic mat to be placed at the finish line. It’s you who will help keep runners moving through the finish line. We need your assistance to guide them through the following areas: Water stations, food stations, awards area.
Description: You will prep and serve the post-Race refreshments of fruit, pretzels, water, etc., and help with clean up after the race.
Description: Following the Race, all materials will be broken down for return and storage. Volunteers break-down tables, tents, chairs, trash cans, and banners. This activity may require some heavy lifting.
